Topo Map Hoover

We are pleased to offer you the NEW Topographical map of Hoover Reservoir, done in 3' intervals.  This map was created from new data points that were collected in 2001 by Ray Petering and the staff at ODNR, Division of Wildlife.  Ray points out, "It should also be noted that Larry Krall and some of the Watershed Rangers from Hoover have been a big help in getting all of the shoreline facilities in the right places."  This map is sizable and printable.  It is in ".pdf" format which requires Adobe Acrobat to view.  If you do not have Acrobat installed, you will find a link to download it free, following the print instructions.  (Note: while the map has "Draft Version" on it, it is the final version.  The term "draft" will be removed when the maps are printed by ODNR for public release.)

Copying and Printing Lake Maps in Adobe Acrobat Reader

Many of the print functions will not work through your web browser, so it is recommended that you download the map file to your hard drive before you attempt printing. To download the map file, right-click on the lake map link. Chose "Save Target As" from the drop-down menu. At the resulting dialogue box, chose a location on your hard drive for the lake map .pdf file and click Save.

PRINTING THE ENTIRE MAP
These lake maps can be printed as a whole using the Print function of Acrobat Reader. The maps are designed to print on legal-size (8.5 X 14") paper, which will fit into most home printers.

The maps can be resized to print on normal letter-size (8.5 X 11") if desired, but this will make the details very small. To scale the map to the size of paper being used, chose Print under the File heading on the Acrobat Reader toolbar. At the Print Dialogue box, check "Fit to page" and the map will be scaled to whatever size paper you are using.

PRINTING SECTIONS OF THE MAP
You can also select and print sections of the lake maps.

To print parts of the lake map, use Acrobat Reader to open the copy of the map saved on your hard drive. Next, you must set the Select Tool (box on your toolbar) to "Graphics".

To do this, Press Shift+V to cycle through the Select Tools until wpe1.jpg (934 bytes) the Graphics Tool is shown on the Acrobat Reader toolbar.

With the Graphics Tool activated, parts of the lake map can be printed.
For best results, use the Zoom Tool wpe2.jpg (855 bytes) to magnify the map to the desired level before printing. To print part of the map, move the cursor to the area of interest. Hold down the left mouse button and draw a box around the part of the map that you want to print. Release the left mouse button and right-click in the box that you just drew, and choose Print from the drop-down menu.

PRINTING SECTIONS OF THE MAP (alternative method for Windows users)
You can also print a section of the map by using the Print Screen key on your keyboard. To do this, zoom in on the section of the lake that you desire to print using the Zoom Tool on your Acrobat Reader toolbar.

Next, use the mouse to move the cursor somewhere near the center of your screen, and left-click. Then press ALT + Print Screen. What you have just done is copied everything you see on your monitor screen. Now minimize the Acrobat Reader window, and open any word processing (Word, Word Perfect, etc.) or graphics (Power Point, etc.) program that you have on your computer. Left-click the Paste tool on your toolbar, then use your Print function as you normally would.
